In Response to John

I got tagged by John about a month ago. I've had that hagning over my head for all this time. It has deprived me of sleep, but now that exams are over, I have some spare time and, as promised, here it is John.

How many books do you own?
Why do you have to start with the tough questions? There are 101 books on the adult bookshelf. This includes four Bibles, though. Apparently we have 174 children's books and both Janice and I have textbooks stored away in Ontario.

What book is your latest purchase?
Christian Theology, by Millard J. Erickson.

What books have you read most recently?
You are Mine, Max Lucado. I read it to Stephen tonight before he went to bed this evening.
Before that was Introduction to Biblical Interpretation, W.W. Klein, C.L. Bloomberg and R.L. Hubbard

Name five great books with impact on you:
It's unfortunate that I have trouble remembering most of the good books that I've read.
5. Intercessory Prayer, Dutch Sheets
4. The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis
3. The Purpose-driven Life, Rick Warren
2. Celebration of Discipline, Richard J. Foster
1. The Bible, God

Who do you challenge to answer these same questions?
I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Happy Birthday!!

Just wanted to say a belated happy birthday to Steph. (For those of you who don't know, Steph is Matt's girlfriend.) It was her birthday on Thursday but we didn't know. We hope you had a great time even though you're in the middle of exams. See you in June!

Easter Egg Hunt

Today was Easter Sunday. We had some sun today and we were able to spend some time with Stephen outside. We placed some plastic eggs with candy inside of them over the yard. Stephen walked around and gathered them into his bucket. He enjoyed it, but enjoyed eating the candies even more. If you look closely in the first picture you can see some of the eggs hidden very well around the yard.

Party!!

The Barnhoorn's had the party of the year at their house. We had many of our fellow classmates over to celebrate the completion of another semester. It may have been a bit early for most of us, but we had a lot of fun singing songs, throwing frisbees, playing Crainium, and pigging out on barbequed burgers and tons of other food. Good times were had by all. (Who would have thought we could have "comfortably" fit 40 people into our house?)
Thanks to everyone who everyone who came!

Stephen and William

William's parents were involved with an Easter play at their church, so we took care of him for the evening. The two boys played pretty well for the most part. Here are some pictures of the happier times.

Stephen's New Boots

Stephen likes his boots so much that he wanted to wear them to bed. He knows how to put his boot on all by himself. Too bad he's only figured out how to get one on.

Graduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics

Last night we were at school for the "End of Semester Celebration Program" where Jono received a Graduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics. That means he has completed all the courses he needs to work for SIL. He still has 6 (?) courses left to complete his Masters. This was a pretend graduation for him because we don't think he'll be attending his actual graduation next Spring. The last picture is from Stephen. He took it during the ceremony. I was letting him play with the camera to keep him quiet because he had already drunk all his milk and eaten all his stars!

Bubbles

Since the weather has been nicer, Stephen and Jono play with bubbles before dinner. Stephen has to point out if he gets any "drool" or "water" on his clothes. I'm not sure how many bubbles he actually makes.

Soccer

Jono's intramural soccer team, the CanIL Vikings, made it into the semis. So Tuesday night we, Stephen and I, went to school to cheer. We went early so Stephen and Jono could play "ball" together before the other guys got there. Jono is in the red by the goal (he didn't score that time) and Stephen was cheering while going up and down the bleachers. He really wanted to go down and play with the ball. The Vikings won that game but lost on Thursday night. Go Vikings!

Family time before bed

Jono attempted to take a family picture one night after Stephen's bath. They didn't turn out too well. Stephen likes to wear his housecoat with ears. He fell that morning while he was walking and looking at "yellow mommy". There was a dandelion in the grass and he couldn't manage walking in his new sandals, look at the yellow dandelion, and tell me about it at the same time.

A new hiding spot

Mommy found me under here the other day. It was a great hiding spot until I tried to get out. I kept hitting my head.

Helping Mommy

I am helping Mommy by putting the cookies into the cookie jar. It kept me busy enough that I didn't notice Mommy doing dishes because I love to help with the dishes too! Mommy figured the cookies were a dryer task than the dishes. For some reason Mommy doesn't like to have water and bubbles all over her floor.
